new york, new york
I'm in New York. (I'm also mildly drunk, but that is not relevant.) Today I was reminded of the most annoying thing about New York. You know how everyone here is supposed to be all fast and on the go and speedy speedy speedy? Then WHY am I ALWAYS stuck behind slow people on the sidewalk??? Why? Why can't they move faster? Or get out of my way?

Because there are too many of them.
Erm, that happens to me in DC too. Maybe here the sidewalks tend to be wider.
It happens to me in DC, too, sure, but DC is supposed to be slow. This is New York!
A Apple that Big is bound to have its share o worms innit.
When I'm in NYC I usually say in Midtown, which is tourist central. Stay away from Times Square if you can, that's ground zero for "slow walker" tourists...darn them all to heck!
TOWWAS, you're a pretty fast walker, so I don't think you'll find many places where you don't think the people are slow!
Unrelated question: I just bought some turkey jerky and noticed a notice in Japanese on the back. The last time I bought jerky - a different brand, many months ago - I noticed the same thing. I jerky big in Japan? Are we trying to correct our trade imbalances by exporting dried meats?
Gosh, I don't remember a big jerky culture in Japan. Can you take a picture of the label? I'm curious now.
And, yes, I do walk fast, particularly in cities. Which is why all these slow people are so annoying to me, when I expect to be in the mecca of the fast.
Grrrbear, you're so right, I spent way too much time around Times Square on this visit.
Yep, the slow walkers are most likely tourists. over the year I worked and truly commuted to the city, I honed my "slow-walker-radar-skillz" and managed to weave in and out without slowing down or crashing.
But of course, the moments I took to stop and look around, I'd meet the most interesting of people . . .
Send a hello to my old city for me. :)
If it says what is says in English above it, it reads:
Export Gift Pack
The meat herein is for personal use only and is not for sale. It is derived from animals that received antemortem and postmortem inspection and were found sound and healthy and has been inspected and passed as provided by law and the regulations of FSIS/USDA.
How's that for a run-on sentence?
The next time I have the camera out, I'll hopefully remember to take a picture...
