celebrity identification game

This afternoon I was in Greenwich Village and this celebrity walked by. No, I did not have the presence of mind to take a picture, and I totally can't think who he was. So I'm going to give you clues and you're going to come up with names for me. He looks a little like Brendan Fraser and Carson Daly, but is not either one. Dark hair, dark eyebrows. Normal height. An actor, I think, or someone else who you see in video form. Somehow funny. I have a mental image of one eyebrow being raised. Maybe more TV than movies, but maybe not. On the young side.

Anyone? Help?

John Hodgman! Let it be John Hodgman!

John Hodgman would have to be described as having a very round head, although I agree it would be awesome if it was him!

Joshua Jackson? Josh Hartnett? Someone else named Josh? Ruffalo's also a good guess... I know someone who saw Paul Rudd in Vegas once and said he was shorter than she expected (and she herself is quite short), so I'm guessing it wasn't him.

No, if it had been Mark Ruffalo, I would have followed him down the street, possibly leaving a trail of drool. Ditto Paul Rudd.

Anyway, mystery solved: all hail J.Chu. She guessed, by e-mail, Jesse Bradford, and she was totally right. And I'd never even heard of Jesse Bradford, but I saw Bring It On a few weeks ago.

Aw, Swimtern!

(Nickname courtesy of the TWoP West Wing recaps, where they noted that Mr. Bradford, who was then playing a WH intern, had previously starred in "Swimfan.")

I have no idea who he is, although I am vaguely aware of Swimfan. I can only take this as a sign that my long reign as a pop culture guru has ended and I'm now beginning the long, slow slide into irrelevance - like thaat uncle of yours who has every episode of "The Honeymooners" memorized and proceeds to quote them - at length - during thanksgiving celebrations.
