I forgot to mention, I have a solo in this year's show. I believe I said a while ago that eventually solos would become so unexceptional that they wouldn't be worth mentioning anymore. But I'll mention a Revels solo, because that's in front of a thousand people. :) It's eight words long (with a repeat, for a total of 16) and two other people are singing at the same time, but I have the soprano line, so I'm the one you hear, so it still counts as a solo. Me! All singing and stuff! (This was the thing I was supposedly singing flat.)

And you know what? I don't get remotely nervous. The first couple of times before doing it for an audience, I got a burst of oh-my-god-it's-coming-up stomach-dropping adrenaline about five minutes before we went on, but the feeling was over in a second. Once I'm out there, I'm in costume, the audience is blurry (my glasses: not early-1800s), and I'm surrounded by other chorus members, and the solo just pops out in the middle of a song. All very easy. Yay.

Unfortunately, I also didn't mention to anyone who's coming to see the show that I have a solo, so they're all reading my name in the program later and being like, hey, wait, I missed that!

Bwahahaha! But now I've seen this blog...a full WEEK(ish) before I see the show. So now I know...and knowing, as they say, is half the battle!

Can't wait to see it! The Monkey's recap was that he was grumpy that Monkey-Dad couldn't point out MissS to him. Heh.

Heh. Yeah, Monkey Dad told me that at intermission. I was like, uh, dude - I sang a solo, like, 15 minutes into the show. My name was in the program. I don't even have my hair covered, so I'm easy to pick out. For people who can see. :)

Also - I didn't tell people because I didn't want to be like, hey, come see me 'cause I have a solo!! And then have them be like, uh, you didn't tell me your solo was eight stinkin' words long and sung with two other people.

I don't understand singing at all - you have a solo with two other people singing at the same time? Doesn't that make it a treo or something?

I can't come to revels until I understand things like this, I assume.
