Can anyone explain to me why The Princess Bride is so great? I've seen it probably three or four times, and never thought it was particularly interesting. And if your answer is "because I thought it was awesome in 1987" - why? Articulate.
Holy crap! All my girlfriends where I was their first boyfriend told me *I* looked like Cary Elwes, which was why they liked the movie so much too!
And believe me, there were *lots* of girlfriends! You betcha!
(Actually, I think it's funny because it has a lot of lines that are eminently quotable to Junior high kids, so those of us who saw it with friends back then immediately took them up as sorta-inside jokes. Repeating said lines even today still makes me giggle)
