other people's children

I know, blogging adorable anecdotes about children who aren't even your own is kind of pathetic, but Little Miss was temporarily my kid this weekend - Miss Shirley let her be on stage with me - and she's practically my niece anyway. So I present two tales of Little Miss.

First: A.Pee (ha) was wearing the hobby-horse as we were waiting to parade in for the dress rehearsal on Saturday. Little Miss was getting introduced to the hobby-horse, so A.Pee said, "Do you have a carrot for the horse?" and she said, "No...but I have an apple!" and held out her hand.

Then: During the second show yesterday, the morris men finished their dance, and one of the fine Revels-y things to do after that is let out some kind of rousing yell. Most of us leave the yelling to the more zealous men. So first they yelled, but then Little Miss did a little tiny yell, and Miss Shirley and I, standing about five feet behind her, both totally cracked up. It was so cute. She turned around and was like, "What are you laughing at?"
