Friday on
my favorite blog, the blogger said she had big news but couldn't tell anyone what it was yet. And everyone posted comments saying "You're pregnant!" And I, yes, me, alone among the masses, said, "You got a book deal!" And guess who was right? Oh yeah. I am awesome.

That blog is funny. Seriously. You have me hooked. And I'm SOOOO glad you got it write (get it?).
Yeah, I love her voice. I'll admit, my mind also went first to her being pregnant, but after I looked at all the other comments saying she must be pregnant, I started to find it kind of insulting that everyone thought the only possible news this intelligent, multi-talented young woman could have to share was about pregnancy. So I guessed something else. :)
Wait, does that mean that (a) literary agents are reading blogs looking for the Next. Big. Thing, and (b) if we actually write good stuff on our blogs they'll find us and make offers involving book deals, Today Show appearances, Oprah endorsements, etc.?
Maybe I need to re-think the whole "say nothing of real importance of consequence" mantra I've got going on.
Yes, it does mean that. I know. Time to get a life. Actually, time to start blogging about my life rather than blogging about amusing minutiae. Yeah...ain't gonna happen.
There is nothing wrong with intelligent, multi-talented young women being pregnant! Okay, I know you didn't mean that. I'm projecting.
Yes, you know I didn't mean that. :) What's wrong is that being the ONLY thing anyone can think of that she could possibly have to announce.
