summer associates

I try to be forgiving, understanding, tolerant, accepting, and generally well-inclined toward my fellow humans. But...it's ok for me to hate these people, right?

Oh my heavens yes. Perfectly reasonable response given the asinine-ness of the whole situation, provided you also hate the firms they work for, the morons they con into becoming "plaintiffs", and the idiots who serve on juries that award $10 million for trivial offenses.

Which I have no problem doing, naturally.

Oh, I'm just going to limit it to hating the summer associates, and specifically the ones quoted in this story. I'm sorry, you're entitled to free theater tickets and fancy dinners because you work hard in grad school? Um, no. No, you're not.

OMG. I despise them very much. $2700 a week for their internship? what a joke!

All I keep thinking is this:

--People I met at OAM's reunion who are now lawyers: 357, plus or minus
--Number of that group who went on and on about how much they love being a lawyer: 0

Literally, not one.

Good point, Dahvay. My job may not come with free theater tickets or quite so much cash, but I like it. Also, I don't try to pretend it's particularly difficult. Another thing I have against these people: I am not a jackass. (As far as I know.)

How difficult can something that only takes three years of post-graduate education be? So difficult that interning before you're qualified to do it is worth many thousands of dollars a week? Pfff.

How much do you want to bet the partners in this firm also pay their 8 year old $50 for every A...$30 for every B....$10 for every C...etc?

Blech. I'll join in the glare-party....

*glare*
*contempt*

IBYB - I bet it's even more than that. Plus they probably have an a la carte allowance where they get paid to do their chores, and can earn more or less depending on how many they do in a given week.

When *I* have kids, they'll do their chores because of parental fear, not bribery! Beware the wrath of Grrrdad!

I despise them....ok maybe that was harsh.
