soccer isn't boring

Words to live by, or at least to watch TV by, from the wikiHow article amusingly called "How to Appreciate a Soccer Game on TV."
Persevere and rewards will follow. A soccer game, much like a boxing match, can seem slow and tedious initially, but one punch, or in soccer, one pass, one save, one goal, a red card, or a number of other events can turn a game on its head.

I discovered this yesterday. I decided to try out the England/Portugal match while eating lunch. I came in with about 20 minutes left in regular play and stayed through the end. No one ever scored, but the potential for a goal kept me watching. Plus the drama over the red card, etc.

I realized that soccer is totally boring if I half-watch it, but kind of fun if you pay attention. Also, it's neat that they never really stop the game - and, as a result, there are no commercials.

Yes!! I am all about the no-commercials thing. It's so nice to just concentrate on the game.
