I decided I was in love with Berlin after about 28 hours, when I was walking down the street and found a crowd around this guy:

It was such a classically quirky Europe moment - random street performer (and not even the first person I'd seen that day blowing giant bubbles on the street), accompanied by a guy playing atmospheric chords on an electric guitar, as small children gambolled on the sidewalk.

Contributing to my Berlin-love was the fact that it was in the 50s and sunny; the next day it rained, and then it went ahead and rained every day after that, too. But it was too late, I was already smitten.
