mandy moore

Tonight was the Mandy Moore show I was conflicted about a while back. And you know what? It was really fun. I'm not a huge fan of Mandy Moore's voice - she's got a breathy thing going on - but her music is pretty and catchy. And Rachael Yamagata (the opener and the reason I went) was great - she was super funny and totally won the audience over, and kept making fun of her songs for being melodramatic loss-of-love songs. Her family was there, and the families of two of Mandy Moore's D.C.-area band members, and it was all a big old party.

The last song they did - there were, like, 10 people on stage, including the opener and some random friends - was Candy, apparently Mandy Moore's one hit of the pop-princess era, and it was pretty awesome. She and some of the band members started the song by doing what she said was the dance from the video. She was *15* when that song came out. That is nuts, my friends.

When Mandy Moore first came on stage I kept thinking of her character in Saved!, performing with the Christian Angels. It was a little distracting, but I got over it. (Until she'd have a particularly passionate moment and point one hand at the ceiling and I'd be like, oh! Hilary Faye!)

Hmmm. I feel like perhaps my early departure from the Yamagata/Moore concert might have been a mistake. Gee, thanks.

Since I exited before the show was done, I'm posting a link to your blog on my page to give the concert review a fuller picture. Let me know if that is a problem. Cheers.
