J.Bro doesn't know what crocs are [UPDATE: this is not true]. And him this big-time fashion blogger [UPDATE: this is still true]. Mine will be arriving at an REI store near me in two weeks. I discovered this weekend that if you order stuff on rei.com, you can get it shipped to a store for free. I also discovered that REI is having a sale, and that they're giving away coupons all over the place (A 20% off coupon during the sale if you're a member and a 15% off coupon if you sign up for gear e-mails.)
Anyway, crocs are the ugliest shoes ever, but they're soooo comfyyyyyy.
CORRECTION, 5/09: Omg! I'm an idiot! It wasn't .Bro, it was .Po! I take it back! I'm dumb! It makes much more sense to me now! This whole J.Po/J.Bro thing keeps messing me up, now that the Po-ster has returned to blogging (and hooray for that). It's just a good thing Jennifer Lopez doesn't blog, or I'd be confusing people all OVER the place.

HEY NOW - that was J.Po who doesn't know what Crocs are! Rest assured that I know and have all of the appropriate rage about them!
I demand a retraction. Don't make me take this to the blogs! Uh...the, um, other blogs.
And what would Clinton and Stacy have to say about this "I know they're ugly, but they're so comfortable" attitude you've got going on here? They'd tell you crocs are what not to wear, that's what.
Omg! I should've known! My apologies. This whole Po/Bro thing keeps messing me up.
Also: I know, comfort is no excuse. But I'm hoping maybe I'll be able to rock a so-ugly-they're-cute thing. (Ok, ok, they're just ugly, I know. But soooo cooommmmfyyyyy.)
Turns out, given photographic evidence, I have seen Crocs before. And yes, I've found them somewhat heinous. But I know several folks who swear by their comfort.
I first started seeing them around the hospital - a lot - and I thought they were some sort of special shoe for wading through blood or vomit or some other sort of bodily fluid.
Also, you don't even have to have the coupon with you, each member gets 20% off one item, all you have to do is give them your phone #. Nifty. (Be forwarned, however, that ever REI store is a crazy mob scene right now, esp on weekends. I was at the one in Portland (OR) last weekend and was nearly killed by some tool trying to hoist a kayak.)
Dahvay! Welcome! My local suburban REI store: not quite as much of a mob scene.
what is this REI? whatever it is, we didn't have it in jersey. is it a place where i'll end up spending way too much time and money if i know what it is?
Omg, EC. REI is the bomb. If you're into outdoorsy stuff, or accessories that make you look as if you're a person who's into outdoorsy stuff. There are several stores in the area - check it out. It's a coop, so once you pay your 15 bucks, you get some percentage of your full-price purchases back in the form of a dividend forever. My dividend is always, like, a buck fifty. And I spend it with pride.
OMG I'm kinda intrigued by the idea of putting TOWWAS on what not to wear, just to see them throw her crocs in the trash...
But not before reunion, where I can give you the cheesy t-shirt I bought her in Vegas last fall but forgot to ship. And you probably thought I forgot! Oh no...
Ooh!! Cheesy t-shirt! Awesome! I've already decided not to bring my crocs to reunion - I don't think I could handle all the scorn.
The monkey saw the picture and immediately squealed "oooooh! Fancy crooocs!"
Apparently they're a hit with the preschool crowd? TOWWAS, the Monkey will love you even more now! ;)
Yeah, on kids they actually look cute. A lot of the May kids had to be told that, no, crocs were not appropriate footwear for a show set in olden times.
I love my Crocs too! "Army" and not that comfortable without socks (yes, I'm geeky like that)...but I think they are bee-u-ti-full and cool.
Crocs are it.
I hate Crocs b/c they remind me too much of work. When I see people wearing them, I'm all, "Posers. Hospital employees have been wearing these suckers for years."
But if they make you happy, that is all that matters.
:)
Love the "posers" reference. That word really makes me laugh.
