outrageously cute

So, Bergen. Basically the cutest place I've ever been. And I've spent a lot of time in Switzerland, so that's saying something. (I'm giving it a slight edge over Lausanne because Norwegian is a cuter language than French.) It's got a bunch of mountains around a harbor. It's just darling. I stayed in an adorable hotel on the side of the hill you can see in the picture above. Here's the hotel:

For about $75 a night I had a totally cute attic room with slopey ceilings (that's one of my windows in the roof), a sink, and a fabulous view, plus a ginormous (and cute) breakfast (mmmm...jam...) and umbrellas to loan. Because Bergen, in addition to being outrageously cute, is outrageously rainy. I was there from Wednesday night to Saturday morning and it only kinda rained/kinda snowed on Friday, but sometime in the last year they'd set a city record for consecutive days of rain - I think it was, like, 80 or 100.

The first night I wandered around the harbor taking pictures. Not so shabby, eh?

BEAUTIFUL photo of the harbor. I loved Bergen, except for the rain. The old portion of the town is particularly cool.

Wowsers, that's a great picture of the harbor!

I'm so jealous you're in Norway. Ah, the land of my people...

I'm back from Norway now, so you can stop being jealous. :) This is my moment-by-moment blog recap.

Adorable indeed - it belongs in a snowglobe.

Or a rain globe, as it were.

Have you been to Lucern? Now that place was cute. Which is not to say it beats Bergen, because I haven't been there, but it definitely beats Lausanne.

Hm. Yeah, Luzern was cute, but I haven't been there since, uh...1992, when I was 16 years old, so my memory's a little shaky. I did like it. But the adorableness of Lausanne pretty much killed me. I mean, did you go to the old city by the big old church? With the Tintin store? So cute!
