big news, for reals

I had a brand-new life experience today. I gave notice at my job. I was really nervous, but everyone has been super-gracious and happy for me. Grrrbear, if you thought you had friends at awesome media organizations before, hoooooo-boy-baby will you be impressed now. Everybody who cares, send me an e-mail and I'll tell ya where it is. I start April 23.

Now that I'm official, my editor-to-be has invited me to a party at the office next Friday. She says the last time this host threw a party, it involved a life-sized ice sculpture of a seal. I'll be taking my camera.

I'd like to now paste in some of the e-mailed responses. :)

J.Vo: shuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuppp!

J.P.: Oh...my...god...are you going to work for the [funny nickname of my new employer]!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

J.Bro: I spent the whole day pondering what media outfit these sly clues might be referring to, and it just came to me - Boy's Life - The Official Magazine for Scouts! You're certainly right that it's a step up from wastes of trees like [my current employer] or [my new employer]!

Yay, TOWWAS! I'm curious now about the funny nickname of your new employer. Maybe I'll use it when people from out of town come to visit, and we walk by the impressive-looking headquarters of your new employer, and I say casually, "Oh, and here's [TOWWAS's employer]. My friend TOWWAS works there."

Wunderschön!

My big toe told me this would happen -- and my big toe has never been wrong. (Well, once -- but that's another story.) I'm really happy for you, keed.

Of a summer day, I used to Metro down to the Circle, lie under a tree, soak up the rays and journalize. (Journalize?) Really good vibes...

I'm already a subscriber; will anxiously await your prose!
