skansen
I happen to be at a computer with an SD card reader today, so here's a picture of the view from my adorable hotel room in Bergen. Not so shabby, eh? I'm back in Oslo after a jaunt around the west coast; in a few minutes I'm leaving to take the train down to Kongsberg and embark on my week-long adventure in Norwegian dance nerdiness. Where there will be NO COMPUTERS. I know. What will I do with myself? The weather here is lovely - 30ish and snowy. Can't wait to get some skis on and start falling over!

That's beautiful - forget rainy-ass Britain, I'm going to Norway next time I travel overseas! Blorsk muflonskee!
Lovely. I can't wait to see more pix from the trip!
ooh, i'd like to be there right now.
have a great time dancing!
Oh yeah, does "Skansen" have anything to do with "Wiskansen"? What is "Wisconsin" named after?
Wow, that's really beautiful.
My memory from Bergen was the tropical weather in June. It was scorching hot, and I had no shorts. Did you see the Edvard Grieg and Ole Bull museums? I remember taking a special bus to get there, and then I got stranded in the middle of nowhere because there were no more buses back to Bergen. I decided to take a ferry back to the Island (where the Bull house is located), and I spent the night there. I had a bottle of something good with me, maybe scotch, I can't remember. It was beautiful though, because it was close to summer solstice. At about 3:00am (still light), some named people got out of their boat, and started swimming. That was great fun!
Re: my last post. I meant to say that those people were "naked", not "named", important difference.
Nice! I think the Ole Bull museum is closed in winter - in any case, I didn't have time to get there - but I did see Grieg's house. It was snowing horizontally. He, sensibly, spent his winters in sunny southern climes - Denmark. I'm jealous of his composing hut.
