hanging

This afternoon I walked by the TV in the reception area at work - I think it was on CNN, whatever, one of the cable news channels - and on the screen was a guy standing next to an anatomical model, full-sized, like a dude with the skin taken off, with a rope around its neck. And the thing across the bottom said "Saddam Hussein Execution." I believe the guy was explaining how hanging works. Is it just me, or is that totally nasty? You know how much detail I want to know about hanging? There's a rope. And then you die.

Then on the way home I was listening to NPR and they did a story on networks having to decide whether to show video footage of the execution. Ok. Here, let me answer that question for you: no.
