mall

This article in Monday's Post makes me almost feel guilty for abandoning City Place, the mall they built in downtown Silver Spring in 1992. I bought my prom dress at City Place and enjoyed, if enjoyed is the right word, the officially-sanctioned after-prom breakfast. I didn't even realize the movie theater had closed. Silver Spring has really taken off in recent years, and you'd think City Place would go with it - but I'm like everyone else, I never go inside it. Now I know there's a Marshall's, I might have to go back.

You know, my prom dress was a little big for me when I was 17, but the last time I tried it on, I couldn't close the zipper. Just as well, since I don't have many occasions for which a light pink off-the-shoulder cocktail-length dress would be appropriate. I should really get rid of it, huh. Because the 120-lb boat has sailed, and it ain't comin back.

Hehehe, maybe it's time I get rid of those Laura Ashley floral numbers from the '80s. And there's that Laura Ashley sailor dress too...

I also have a sailor dress - it's in 'my' closet at my mom's house. It's pretty hilarious. I'm not sure what the 14-year-old me (who was pretty much the same size as the 31-year-old me - so way, way too big for a sailor dress) was thinking.

I have some white Daisy Dukes, a sleeveless sailor shirt, and a neckerchief, but I have to hide them in the corner of my closet, wadded up in an old pair of running shoes.
