cobalt blue

Here's an interesting fact I learned today: a foundation associated with the University of Wisconsin holds patents on techniques used to extract embryonic stem cells from embryos, so if you want to make embryonic stem cells, you have to get a license from this foundation.

I spent all day at a conference. The conference hotel had the most beautiful water glasses I've ever seen. (I took this picture during a talk that was entirely devoid of interesting facts.)

It was kind of a random little specialty conference - I only saw one other reporter all day. When I told one of the speakers I was from [my employer], she was like, why would [that publication] be interested in this? I said, "Well, it's a slow week at the office." She thought I was joking.

that looks a lot like a Ritz-Carlton water glass....

Did you score one of the glasses? It's so much easier for women to score cool stuff from events like this, what with the purses and all...

Yeah, I thought stealing a glass might be bad form. Instead, I took pictures.
